Assaiment 2 task 1 Market Research
Market research is carried out to see wort sort of adverts are already in the media for similar products . This is done to get ideas and to make sure the creator is not coping another advert out their.
iPhone 4s
The first advert is for the iPhone 4s. The advert is based on the features of the iphone 4s. The advert focuses on the pa feature siri which was first introduced on the 4s and revolutionised smart phones forever. The advert also features email, whether, dictionary, planner, maps, and gps. This is done to show off all the featurs of the new iphone to convince customers to buy the new iphone over any other iphone or smartphone . The advert includes the form of reception because it keeps using siri to preform different tasks.This is done to convince customers of how much siri can do so people will want to get it. The advert is a stand alone advert because there is only one iphone 4s so i only needs one advert to show it off . It is done so each new iphone can get a different advert to show different features. The the advert use mid shorts closeups and extreme close ups. it also uses tracking shots. The mid shots are used to show the person on their phone. Both types of close ups are used to show off the iphone . The tracking shots are used to show different locations for each different character. The advert uses mellow calm music . This is so the audience do not get distracted by the music on the advert and pay attention to what is happening. The advert is memorable because it shows how revolutionary and original the iphone is . This is due to all the feature that the advert shows to the audience. The advert is appealing because of the people ,tasks and sir. The people seem like normal people the task they do were normal and sieri looks like the best helper you could get on your phone. The advert target audience was every one who could use a smart phone. The advert showed off every day tasks that every one preforms on their phone . This means it appeals to them and dose not alienate anyone with tasks only a select few carry out. There is nothing inappropriate in the advert so can be view by anyone.

The second advert is for the Samsung Galaxy S4. The advert is based around a dinner party. The host introduces his friends to his new girlfriend and new phone. Some of the guest are reluctant about the phone. The advert then precedes to show off the phones features including translator, hand swipe call answer, touch speaker connection,music and multi camera. This is done to convince people that the S4 has greatly improved with all new features that are not in other phones. The adverts style is humour which is seen when the girlfriend uses the translator which produces an innuendo joke which is misunderstood. It is done to make the audience laugh and remember the advert so they are convinced to buy the phone. The advert is also a stand alone. There is only one advert like this. This is because the producers and can a different advert for each new samsung to show off each of its features. The advert includes mid shots long shots and close ups . There is only static shots in the advert. The mid shots are used to see the characters, the long shots are used to show whats happening in the characters perspective and close uses are used to show the features of the phone. The static movements are used so the audience are distracted by a lot of movement. The advert uses basic mellow music. This is so the audience will not get distracted by music and focus what is happening in the advert. The advert is memorable because of the humour in the advert. The jokes and the picture make the audience laugh and tell others about it so more people view the advert. The product is appealing because of all the features including the camera, translator and the touch music. The target audience for the advert is 20-35 year old s . Thew advert is appealing because it shows what the audience want their lives to be like and show the feature on there phone they they will use in their live instead of showing games which they might not use. The joke in the advert is not appropriate for young kids because it is a sexual joke, but the advert is perfectly acceptable to adults.

The fourth advert is for the Sony Xperia Z. The advert starts by showing old sony technology. The advert show an old sony tv, a sony walkman, a sony video camera and a sony playstation. The advert then goes to the future showing a pain throwing festival. The phones features get shown off including the camera and it being waterproof. The old technology is shown to show sonys evolution and to shown all the different features of the phone e.g. a camera and gaming. The advert is in the intertextual form. This is because it is showing old technology from the past. The advert is a stand alone advert. This is so sony can make a different advert for each different phone because each phone has different features . The advert includes mid shots , long shots, close ups and extreme closeups. the advert includes only static camera movements. The mids shots are used to show peoples reactions of each product , the long shots are used to show locations and how the technology is used. the close ups and extreme close ups are used to show the products themselves. There is only static shots in the advert so the audience will not be distracted. The music in the advert is mellow and calm with a light voiced singer. This is to put focus on the phone and not to distract the audience. The advert is memorable because it is nostalgic because it shows all these old product which people either remember , know of or new but excited. The product looks appealing because it dose things like is water proof that other smart phones are not. The target audience for the advert is 20-35 years old. It appeals to them using nostalgia because they will remember some of the products like the playstation and the bright colours also make it appealing. The final advert is for the Nokia Lumia 1020 . The advert is about a women telling the audience about when she was choosing a phone and why she chose the nokia. The advert focuses on the camera on the phone which is 41 mega pixel camera. She used the camera to take a picture of her boyfriend playing pool. The adverts style is repetition. The adverts for windows product at the moment are all in the same style and all using the same music. This is done to show that all their products are linked together. The adverts are series advert because they are all the same style and used the same music . The advert uses long shorts ide shots and close ups. The advert uses The mid short are used to show her talking about he phone. The long short are to show the setting of the advert and the closeups are used to show the phone. The music in the advert is a popular pop song called Brave by Sarah Barellles. The song is used because it is know by a lot of people so if they here the song they want to see what the advert is about so more people would be convinced to buy the phone. The advert is memorable because of the camera . The camera lets you change different parts of the picture to make it better which you can't do on the cameras. The product is made appealing by showing what the camera can do which other cameras can't. The advert is targeted towards 15-40 year olds especially those who like photography. The advert appeals to them because it used bright colours popular music and fashionable clothes to appeal to the younger audience and it focuses on photography. The third advert is for HTC The advert is about the actor Robert Downy JR . He is playing the roe of a CEO of HTC where he has to come up with ideas. He sets out to find loads of different meaning to HTC. These include "Humongous tinfoil catemurang", "Hipster troll car wash" and "hold this cat". This is done to show that HTC can mean whatever you want it to be so you can do whatever you want with there phones. The advert is a humorous one. This is done to make the advert more appealable and memorable to make the audience want to buy the phone. The advert is a standalone one. This is so the produces can make a different advert for each HTC to show off their individual properties. The advert includes mid shots long shots close ups. It also includes pans tilts and tracking shots. The mid shots were to show the what people were saying and their reactions , the long shots were used to show whats happening in the distance and closeups were used to show the phone. The pans and tilts were to give it a hand held feel , the tracking shots were to follow what was happening and the hand held camera was to make it like an actual idea development. The advert uses upbeat and dancing music. This is used to get people enjoying the advert and trying to make it memorable. The advert is memorable for its humour especially the trolls. The humour makes many people laugh and want to see it again so people are more like want their phone. The product is appealing because you can do alot with it this is because the advert is marketed that HTC can be whatever you want. The advert is targeting at 16-25. The advert is good at appealing at that demographic because it is showing humour targeted at that age . Also it uses this in pop culture at the moment because it uses hipster. There is nothing inappropriate in this advert.
