Task Four - Identifying Potential Problems

Copyrighted music

When designing my advert I need to look at any potential problems that might occur. When these problems are identified I need to find a way of dealing with them so the advert goes off without a problem. This will help me find the best way of dealing any problems that i might safe. There are many legal and ethical problems I will face when creating my advertisement. The first problem is copyrighted music. When selecting music for my advertisement , i need to make sure there is no copyright on the piece of music I selected. This is because if I use it it will be against the law because I do not have the right to use it. To use it I will need to gain a equaty of rights to use it. Also when film the advert in public people might not want to be filmed in our advert.

Useing Footage

Some people do not want to be on camera for many reasons. There are numorouse reasons why people do not want to be on film. We have to repspect their wishes and filtre what is shown. If we
use the footage without asking the person permission it is seen as unethical because we did not get their permission to use it. This might anger the audience if they seen that they have been used without being asked. We will produce a relaeace form that everyone has to sign to say that we can use the footage.

Representation of people

Another problem that needs to be looked into in repsentatipon of people. In the advert we will need to include different  genders, races , religion and sexualites. People want to feel that they are reperesented in the media so they feel poart of the commuibt. To do this I will have to cast actors and extras that are representative of each group. If this is not done these groups will not view it as a representative adcvert ,so they will be turned away from the product. If it is done people might be more attracted to the product so there will be more sales.

Coping ideas

Another problem with the advert is that we do not want to be accused of coping ideas. When the adveert is coimplete, it might look simmular to other adverts. W might gety acused of copping their ideas causeing a plagerism complayte which will lead to the advert beinng taken down. To avoid this will look at the other advert by conducting market research to see what is alredy out there. From this we will come up with our own idea for an advert and makeing it an orignal idea. This will help our advert not look like other adverts makeintg it uniques. We will especcaly look for a differenrt unique selling point.

Risky Content

In the advert we will have to watched out for risky content. The advert can not include smokeing , definatly not include drug use (even though we would not anyway), alchol use (if we are showing it during the day) or the actors wear to Riské clotthing. The audience that will see rthe advert might be underaged , so we can not show these things. If they are used the advert will revcieve complaints casueing the advert to be taken down. We will avoid this by stopping any of this being in the advert.

Production Document: Contingency Plan

Contingency Plan
Name: Joeann Murphy and Adam Cope

Production: Brighten Up Your Life – iPhone 5C advert

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:
One potential problem is that it might rain when we are trying to film the bus stop, then we will have to have a back up plan to film another day or by a bus stop, which is under shelter.

Another problem that may occur is one of our house locations may not be available (Taylor’s house) however we can then film at my house.

The day we plan to film the party (the last scene), might have to change, or be rearranged.
