Task Three - Research for production:

When making any visual production you need find out about everything you need to make an adver. These include equipment ,locations, props and adverts. We need to know what we need to make the advert , what we have to do to make the advert and make sure we have everything planned and ready for the advert. This needs to be done because if something goes wrong we need to know what to do if it dose. Also it need to be done to make sure  everything goes well in the production and make sure we have everything we need.

Technical Equipment
When making my advert we will need equipment to make it. During the shoot we will need a camera and a tripod.  We will need to rent the camera and the tripod because we do not have one to use. The camera and tripod will cost £102 to rent for a week end off the website http://www.hireacamera.com. The camera will be delivered at 12pm on the day of hire and will be collect on the day of return. We will also need 3/4 iPhone. It will not cost us anything because one of the creators and some of the actors has iPhone 5c. The filming will take around two days, we will be filming over a weekend because it is when we can rent the items. The film will include 3 situations. Each situation will take half a day so it is going to take one and a half days with the other half to reshooting. If we do  not finish the film in the two days the renting company offers extensions which will cost the amount of an day which is  £67.

Potential Filming Locations

When making our advert there is going to be 4 locations for our film the first is a bedroom we will use the acttors bedroom. We will need to get permission form the directors parents if we want to film there. To get to the location i will need to walk there .  The problems we might face at the location it might be noisy because people live in the house. Also there might be days we can not film because the parents might not let us. The second location will be the directors uncles living room. We will need to ask her uncles permission to film there and if we are aloud to have people round to film a party. I will need to walk to his house to film there. The problems we might face is that there might be background noise and we might not be able to film certain days.  The third location will be green lane . We do not need permission to film there because it is a public place. W will have to walk to the location to get their. The problems of the location is the weather might be bad so we cant film , it might be busy so we can't film and it could be dangerous because it is a public place so people might try to steal the camera. The final location is my front door. We will need to ask my parents permission to film. The other director will have to walk to my house. The problems faced will be my parents might not want me to film on certain days and it might ber noisy in the house.

Actors and Actresses

For my advert we will need two actresses a actor and a cast of extras. We will need to hold open auditions for the actor actress and extras. The auditions will take place tuesday 25 th march 2014. The actors and extras will all be unpaid unknown actors to keep the cost down . The only downside will be that the quality of acting may not be good. But it will cost for the catering and housing of our actors they will cost around £150. We will need to write a disclaimer for the public if need because we are filming in public.

Costumes and Props

We will need props for our advert . We will need 3/4 iPhone 5 c's , a cd player , a parcel and beauty/makeup items including miacara. We need costumes too. We will need n a party outfits and casual cloths. We our going to source all the props and costumes our selve from our own homes to cut down costs. We will store all props and costumes at my house to again cut down cost for us again. The props and costumes will not cost anything because we will source it fro ourselves . Unless  we do nto have all the prop and costumes. So we will set a £20 spending limit on props and costumes.

Ideas Generation

The first  advert is made by using stop motion animation by taking loads of still images and building them up to form a film . The advert is going to be a anti realist narrative. The advert with have the stop motion images with the phones moving on there own.  This would not happen normally. This is used to interest the audience and make the phone look interesting and fun. It is also done to make the advert memorable so it will stick in the audiences mind. The  advert is a humour advert.  The advert will show the phones doing load of different trick and flips . This will make the audience laugh because phones can normally do that. This also makes the advert memorable. The advert will have 3/4 of the different colours of phones moving on there own in doing spins flips slides and the phones spreading like fireworks. The audience for the advert is 16-25 because it it is humorous has  bright colours and it visually complex. The unique selling point for the advert are the colour and the acrobatics of the phone in the advert. These are the USP because this makes the advert visually unique because there is no other advert like it because there is no advert that is as visually dynamic with all the bright colours and shapes. . This make the advert memorable.

The second advert is made up of  three different situations. This situation are on the perspective of three different people . The advert is going to be a realist narrative. The advert would show three normal people in normal situation. This makes the audience relate to the advert because it is a normal situation and could happen to anyone. So people would want to use the phone because they can use it to solve the problems. This will mean that the advert can appeal to anyone because anyone could have the problem. The advert will be a intertextual adver. The advert will include how things from pop culture. One of the main points of  the advert is  the camera especially using pop culture. This will appeal to a teen audience because selefies are in trend at the moment. The advert is going to include tree different people with three different situations. One will be listening to music one will be selfies and one will be shopping online. The phone will help them do this. The target audience for the advert will be also 16-25. This advert will appeal to them because all three of the parts of the advert appeal to this age because teens take selfies order offline and  listen to music.  The unique selling point of our advert is the colour The advert will start with a dark shade but when the phone is used the scene gets brightened.

Target Audience Research- Questionnaire Results

In my group we did a questionnaire to receive information about what audiences like about Mobile phones especially Iphones and their advertisment.

The first question was to find out if the participants were able to answer the rest of the questions about smart phones because if they said no they could not answer most of the questions about smart phones. Luckily all the participants said yes.

The second question was to find out what type of mobiles the participants have. The questionnaire shows that only 50% of participants have iphones . This shows that there is reasons for  not everyone has a iphone.
The third question is to find out how long participants spend on there phones. The answers collected shows that there is not one answer selected show there is no common time spent on their phone.
The forth question is to find out what the participants do on there phone. Texting is the most popular  by the participants all voting for texting.  Also music is very for the participants with over 80% voting for  Listening to music. Social networking is the third highest choice with over 70% of the voters. This shows the that our advert should be focused on texting, music and social networking.

The fifth question is to find out if wither people were on contract or pay as you go. Most people were on a contract with 9 out of 11 people on a contract. The rest was on pay as you go. This shows that people prefer to pay for their phone over time so we will aim to target contract for the advert.

The sixth question was to find out how much people paid for their contract on their phone. The three participants who was on pays as you go paid between £100 to £200 for their Phone. The iPhone 5c cost around £439.95 (price from carphone warehouse). These phones would not appeal to them because it is more expensive than their phones are at the moment. But we will try to make the advert so they are convinced to buy it or go on contact .

The seventh question is to find out how much people spent on their phone contract a month. Most participants in my study group with over half paying  from £21-£30 a month, Just over a quarter paying £31-£40 and only one participant pays £10-£20. The price for a iPhone 5c contract is £25 for 8GB Phone.

The eighth question is too find out if the participants found iPhones expensive. 70% of participants believe that iPhones are expensive. The normal iPhone costs £38 a month (carphone warehouse). The  Our advert will show the audience that the iPhone 5c is cheaper at £25 a month (carphone warehouse).

The ninth question is too find out if the iPhone was cheaper would the participants buy it. 90% said they would buy it. This show that the audience will want a cheaper iPhone. This is one of the main parts of the advert.

The last question was to find out what appeals to the participants about a iPhone. The question shows that 70% of the audience like the design and the apps. 50% of them like the camera and the brand. This shows that the advert should also look at the camera ,the brand , the  apps and the design.
